Karla Ude was more than a woman of distinction. She had an attitude of drive and determination and refused to take no for an answer when pursuing something significant to her. She was always smiling and lit up any room that she walked into. Always filled with words of encouragement and motivation, every sister in the Xi Beta Chapter, as well as her other friends and family, have been touched by Karla’s kind and selfless spirit. She always knew what to say to turn your bad day around for the better. A God-fearing woman, Karla made sure that everyone around her was aware of God’s love for them, as well as hers.

At The University of Oklahoma, Karla was a Resident Advisor, competed in the Miss African Queen Scholarship pageant, and was an active member in the Xi Beta Chapter of Sigma Lambda Gamma. Apart from school, she had a genuine love for children. She owned her own daycare where she took care of young children and taught them to read and write. Karla was a person of integrity and made an impact in the life of every person that she came in contact with. Karla was an amazing person and an amazing sister. She will be truly missed, but her spirit and the knowledge and wisdom that she blessed our chapter with will forever resonate among us. We love you and miss you, Miss Divinity.
